After 13 Years: A Powerful Journey Back to Hong Kong and the Chow Gar Mor Kwoon

25 November 2025

After 13 years, we finally returned to Hong Kong together — back to the Mor Kwoon, to Sifu, to our roots. This journey was a powerful reunion filled with training, memories, and meaningful moments that reminded us why this path matters so much.

back to Hong Kong

This year’s trip back to Hong Kong was special in many ways.

For me, it was my third year returning — but for Attila, it was the first time in 13 years. The last time we stood together in Hong Kong was back in 2012, during a different period of life, surrounded by our old group of Hungarian kung fu brothers.

For a long time, it wasn’t even certain we would make this trip.
Life, responsibilities, and unexpected circumstances made everything unsure.
But somehow, everything aligned — and I feel deeply grateful that we were able to return together.

We visited the MorKwoon, our headquarters, where so much of our journey began. We trained together again under that familiar rooftop atmosphere, and spent time with Sifu Ip Chee Keung — for Attila, the first meeting in seven years. We also went to pay our respects to our ancestors, which always brings a quiet strength and a reminder of where this path comes from.

But beyond the training, what made this trip truly meaningful were the simple human moments — talking, laughing, remembering who we were back then, and seeing how far we have come.

And of course… our nightly ritual.
Almost every evening, after training and after everything else was done, we walked to a tiny local shop that makes only mango-based sweets. We tried different things, but eventually found our favourite — and kept coming back to it before returning to the hotel. It reminded us of those earlier trips when our whole group hunted down mango desserts all across Hong Kong, debating which one was the best.

This trip brought those memories back — the friendship, the brotherhood, the shared journey, and the feeling of belonging to something bigger than ourselves.

I’m grateful we could experience it together again after so many years.
And I’m grateful for this path we continue to walk — step by step, year by year.

We’ll share more stories, photos, and reflections in the coming weeks.
We just need a bit of time to digest, organize, and process the many moments and materials we brought back.
